Client feedback:'Counselling helped me so much. So many ups and downs, but you guided me through. Thank you for giving me new light!'

How I work

I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor. I offer both short term counselling and longer-term therapy, on a one-to-one basis. I work in a confidential, client-led way that suits you and is at your pace, so we will decide together, with regular reviews, how to proceed. I will give you the space and support you need to explore your thoughts and feelings about your life now, and how you would like it to change, and offer coping strategies for times when life is tough and seems overwhelming.

If you feel that life is not as it should be or that you are struggling with a difficulty or decision, we will work together to find a way through. There is no problem that is too big or too small. I will provide a safe, non-judgemental space where you can have confidence to explore the challenges you are experiencing. I work with many issues, including bereavement and loss, anxiety, depression, anger management, low self-esteem, past/present family and relationship problems, and life problems.

What is important to me is that you feel comfortable with me so that we can work in the way that best enables you to bring about positive changes in your life and relationships.

I have worked for many years with clients in a variety of settings: in private practice offering long, medium and short term therapy, in focused short-term sessions with students at the University of Southampton and longer-term therapy at a crisis centre, a counselling agency and with a bereavement charity. I work with adults and teenagers 16+.

I currently also work at the Student Counselling Service of the University of Edinburgh, where brief therapy (usually four sessions) is offered free of charge to students.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their ethical framework.
